In New York City, it can be very difficult to find fun events for the whole family. However, this weekend in Battery Park, the Battery Conservancy and the Downtown Alliance will both be hosting free, community oriented family fun with a Fall Community Planting Day and the Battery Conservancy Harvest Festival, this Saturday, October 22nd.
Fall Community Planting Day and the Battery Conservancy Harvest Festival, this Saturday, October 22nd will take place in very comfortable succession of each other, with just an hour gap.
Fall Community Planting Day, hosted by the Downtown Alliance at Whitehall Street (by the N,R train stop), will run from 10-12 pm. Plants gardening tools, free refreshments, family-friendly activities, composting facilities will all be provided for. This event is being cosponsored by ConEdison, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, and many others.
The Battery Conservancy NYC Harvest Festival is literally just that: a celebration of the first ever agro-harvest from the Battery Urban Farm. Located at The Battery and hosted from 1-4pm, the festival consist of live music, honey tasting, cider and fall Sweets, children games, and farm craft workshops for both children and adults.
The Battery can be accessed from the entrance at State and Park Street, and is located by the 1 South Ferry, the 4/5 Bowling Green, and N,R White Hall stops.
