Mimosas, hummus, bruchetta…Wait! Aren’t we in America, the land of burgers, fried chicken, and slaw? Well one Lower Manhattan burger shop hasn’t forgotten the culinary building blocks of this great country. “Grandma’s House” is determined satisfy Manhattan’s need for some good ole “Merican eatin.”
Situated in South Seaport at 27 Peck Slip (Btwn Water & Front St), Grandma’s Place offers a stacked menu, ranging from 6 different styles of “Hambiggers” to its selection of 9 different side dishes. The mouth watering offerings are completed by their 4 layer grilled cheese sandwich, specialty babyback ribs, and “all-day breakfast.”
To top off the All-American goodness, Grandma’s House has a dessert selection that exceeds its milkshake, malt, and ice cream offerings, and runs off into the rarely frequented land of “pie.” While many restaurants and eateries can muster the strength for the traditional cheesecake, it is this Lower Manhattan burger place which has the muscle and grit to dish up heartland favorites such as strawberry rhubarb pie, apple pie, and its specialty daily pie specials.
So put down the pad thai, ditch that $25 plate of civeche, or that worn out soupe à l’oignon and come on home to Grandma’s house. Your stomach and wallet will thank you.
(Grandma’s House is open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m)
