NYC Sustainability, Adopt-a-Geranium 2011


From 10am-12 pm, on Wednesday, October 12th, the Downtown Alliance will be giving away 4000 potted geraniums as a part of its 2011 “Green Around Downtown” program. This environmental initiative seeks to increase green space and environmental sustainability in Battery Park, Fidi, Chinatown, etc.

Last year, thousands of local residents of Battery Park City, Brooklyn, and FiDi lined up in Bowling Green Park to lay claim to at least one of these coveted gifts. This year will be no different as another 4000 geraniums will again be given away in Bowling Green Park (4,5 express train stop) on Whitehall Street .

This “Green Around Downtown” sustainability program is cosponsored by Con Edison, Community Board 1,  New York City Council Member Margaret Chin ,the Department of Parks and Recreation, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, Whole Foods and Crumbs.
