We just spent the afternoon at the annual Earth Day event at the Visionaire and it was amazing to see the great turnout. The event featured booths set up by local green and organic merchants with a roof deck barbecue at the building’s Sky Garden represented by Battery Place Market and executive chef Robert Sckalor.
I met David Kistner, founder of Green Apple Cleaners. He’s a great guy and they are the resident valet inside the Visionare building. I really like what they’re doing in the space and am very bullish on their business. Also with a booth in the lobby was WeWood Watches, a clever watch manufacturer who focuses on all-natural wood designs. I was shocked to hear that they are already in almost 800 retailers, great for them!
The Visionaire is widely regarded as the nation’s greenest residential hi-rise and it’s right in our back yard in Battery Park City. Developed by the Albanese Organization, the building is the third in their Battery Park portfolio behind the Solaire and the Verdesian. Representing Albanese (among others) were Michael Gubbins and Mark Klein. I had a great exchange with Michael (great guy) and Mark is a superstar. Having completed multiple transactions in the building through my day job as Managing Partner of L.G. Fairmont Group, I can say that Albanese is one of the classiest real estate developers in New York and we can’t wait to help sell their next project.
We’re looking forward to the next Earth Day celebration in 2013.
